Kieran Schumaker (Kier, they/them) is a Board Certified Structural Integrator, an ATSI-certified teacher, and a practitioner whose manual therapy career has spanned over 25 years.
They are the head teacher and developer for the Manual and Movement-Based Neurovascular Release program, and their neurovascular release work remains strongly grounded in the foundational practices of structural integration.
Kier started studying nerves in 2006, added arteries to their special interest list in 2010, and began teaching and developing their own curriculum on neurovascular release in 2013.
Since 2020, they have been offering this advanced training online as well as in person to structural integrators, other manual therapists, and movement educators who want to expand their understanding of structural and functional balance within the body while working through a neurovascular lens.

Course Description:
This introductory course to Neurovascular Release (NVR) can stand alone or prepare you for the deeper dive included in the next five courses of the NVR curriculum, which integrates techniques, perspectives, and practices from structural integration, osteopathy, and clinical massage.
For this course, we will lean into the practices and perspectives of a Structural Integrator. You will learn techniques that look and feel “myofascial” and you will also begin working with osteopathic subtlety and precision. As you learn to work strategically with the neurovascular network, we will focus on improving mobility, stability, left-right and front-to-back balance, and resilience within the fascial system.
Specifically, we will work with the rib cage and neck, erector spinae, gluteal muscles, piriformis, hamstrings, quads, hip flexors, hip abductors, hip adductors, and the lower leg.
We will discuss a few specific therapeutic applications (such as plantar fasciitis, whiplash, and scoliosis), but the emphasis in this course is on structural and functional balance in the fascial system through the NVR lens.
Whether you practice in the framework of the Series or you tend to customize individual sessions or sets of sessions that focus on improving overall structural balance and embodiment, you will be excited to add the techniques you learn in this class to your tool kit.
Return home with fresh insight and immediately useful methods for improving overall front-to-back and left-right balance. Practitioners who are already studying osteopathic-style neural and visceral techniques will appreciate how this course and the rest of the NVR curriculum provide a bridge between the subtle minimalist approach of osteopathy and the more traditional approach of SI.
