About this event

Course Title: Biomechanics of Adaptable Alignment - Module 1

Course Date: Pelvis and Natural Alignment - Jan 23 - 26, 2025

Course Instructor: Aimee Kolsby Cadiz

Aimee Kolsby Cadiz has been a Structural Integration practitioner for over twenty years. She has practiced in New York City, Laguna Beach, CA, and Big Bear, CA.
She began her teaching experience as a mentor for the Hellerwork School of Structural Integration from 2005 - 2009. She was part of the founding faculty at the New School of Structural Integration and taught there from 2009 - 2020.
Aimee first met Liz Gaggini, creator of the Biomechanics Natural Alignment model, in 2005 when she took a course in New York City. Liz is an Advanced Certified Rolfer with over thirty years in practice. Liz created and taught her Biomechanics technique internationally, and has authored numerous articles on the theory and practice of Structural Integration.
Aimee was an assistant teacher with Liz for ten years and when Liz retired in 2017, she invited Aimee to continue teaching her work which is a great honor. Aimee has used the Biomechanics model as a lens for the Classic Rolf 10-Series seeing dramatic and long-lasting results in her clients.
Aimee has a private practice in Laguna Beach, CA. She teaches advanced Structural Integration training including Liz Gaggini's Biomechanics of Natural Alignment and hosts a monthly Biomechanics study group. Aimee lives in San Clemente, CA. with her loving husband and dog, Misty.

Course Start and end times: 10am - 6pm

In Person location: Orange County, CA - Airbnb Class House address to be announced 30 days prior to the course

Course Description:
In Structural Integration, with each session, we endeavor to create further integration for our clients. If we only address part of a misalignment pattern, we are often disintegrating what was, although limiting, an integrated adaptation. However, if we know where to go to interact with the entire pattern, then the changes we create in each session of a Series will be experienced by the client as a more functional and more integrated way to be.
This biomechanics training presents a whole body system for understanding how the body, as a tensegrity system, balances any one misalignment with an integrated pattern of global misalignment. These global responses affect every joint of the body in predictable ways.
Module 1: PELVIS AND NATURAL ALIGNMENT (4 days) Jan 23-26, 2025 In this 4-day class, you will learn to assess natural alignment through factors of girdle position, spinal curvature and appendicular rotations. You will learn the anatomy and kinesiology of the different patterns of tilt, shift, symmetry and asymmetry that can be found within the pelvic girdle. Work will be demonstrated for bringing the pelvis into balance and symmetry. This class will look at how the different patterns of pelvic asymmetry and misalignment include the involvement of the hip joints, sacrum and low back. We will see which patterns are functional and which are dysfunctional for each unique structure. There will be a strong emphasis on various ways to see, assess and understand these patterns. We will cover the significant fascial anatomy of the pelvic floor, sacrum, hips and legs. Several ways of assessing and working with different types of pelvic alignments will be demonstrated. Basic to this class will be an understanding of the importance of creating integration at every step of the work.
