SERVICE MARK GUIDELINES

Board Certified Structural IntegratorsCM are entitled to the exclusive use of the BCSI CM symbols. The Certification Board for Structural Integration℠ encourages board certified practitioners to use the symbols on their websites, business cards, brochures, and other professional materials to distinguish themselves and receive acknowledgment for their accomplishment. Eligible practitioners can download the symbols in several formats located at the bottom of this page.

We also request that Board Certified Structural Integrators use a superscript “CM" after Board Certified Structural Integrator and BCSI, and superscript “SM" after Certification Exam for Structural Integrators and Certification Board for Structural Integration. The CM and SM are typographical effects created by changing the font to a superscript.

The marks inform readers that CBSI is seeking registration of the terms from the federal copyright office to be used exclusively by our certificants. Please use the marks consistently to help protect the terms.

If you create a document with several uses of the term, for example in a brochure or on a web page, the CM or SM only needs to be used once for each term. The correct means of using the marks are in the first usage of the term or symbol in a document or web page.

CM stands for Certification Mark. It should be used after Board Certified Structural Integrator, BCSI, and with the BCSI symbol.

SM (or ℠ in HTML) stands for Service Mark. It should be used after Certification Board for Structural Integration℠ and Certification Exam for Structural Integration℠.

For example:
“I passed the Certification Exam for Structural Integration℠ in 2008, earning the title Board Certified Structural IntegratorCM. Passing the rigorous exam demonstrates knowledge of Structural Integration including Client Relations, Assessment, Strategy, The Work, and Ethics. There are less than 500 Board Certified Structural Integrators worldwide."

CBSI offers logos that certificants may use with their web pages, business cards, and any other signage. The blue logo will print darker as seen below due to ink vs. web coloring schemes. You may want to consider using a graphics professional when printing for accurate color results.

The following file formats are available:

  • PNG, Resolution can vary from “lo-rez" for websites to “hi-rez" for printing.  This format is good for a variety of scalable projects.

  • JPG, These are good all-purpose graphic files for Word, Powerpoint or other office documents. They maintain a white background. They are smaller in file size. They will pixelate if stretched too big. Resolution can vary from “lo-rez" for websites to “hi-rez" for printing.

  • Additional graphic formats, contact us(info@theiasi.com) if you need graphic formats.

Volunteer with CBSISM

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity for personal growth and professional development. Volunteers enjoy collaboration with colleagues, improving their skill sets, and strengthening our profession. Please consider adding your talents to the work of distinguishing Structural Integration. The work of the Certification Board is divided into a number of committees so volunteers can make a difference without a large time burden. Please consider what interests you the most and contact us at kprine@nextwavegroup.net.

Board Member

Develops and reviews CBSI policies, creates long-term goals and financial plans. Oversees administration of the certification program.

Exam Revision

We are looking for people like you who have a unique understanding of how Structural Integration is practiced. The Certification Exam for Structural Integration is continually evolving, as is the body of Structural Integration knowledge. You can provide us with invaluable exam content by helping us write questions that test knowledge of our profession. By submitting potential new questions, you can add to the item bank, thereby contributing to the collective voice of SI practitioners. We also need volunteers to review new item submissions and conduct CESI revisions with our psychometrician consultants. You can also serve as a Subject Matter Expert as we periodically revise the Practice Analysis for SI.

Program Development

Communicates with BCSI practitioners about how to best use their Certification, including symbol, trademarking, and marketing issues.

Marketing

Creates materials to recruit exam candidates and showcase the value of the BCSI certification mark. This committee also promotes the Certification Exam to schools and practitioners.

Website

Revises and maintains the website, including keeping the list of BCSI practitioners and upcoming exams current.

Written Materials

Revises materials such as the Study Guide, Candidate Handbook, and website content.

Exam Administration

Facilitates administration of the exam by training proctors and arranging exam locations.

Accreditation

Advises CBSI on how to progress towards accreditation through application to the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). This commission “ensures the health welfare and safety of the public through the accreditation of a variety of certification programs/organizations that assess professional competence.”

Finance

Plans the budget, oversees financial affairs, and selects accounting firm for audits.

Nominations

Solicits nominations for the Board of Directors.

Professional Practices

Addresses disciplinary matters, investigates judicial matters concerning the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and IASI Code of Ethics if ambiguities or disputes arise.

We know your time is valuable and we are committed to making your volunteer experience worthwhile. Contact Kristin Prine at kprine@nextwavegroup.net if you have any questions.
